Feminine power, feminine leadership, and feminine energy can be confusing to many people, and by “confusing,” I mean “controversial.”  For thousands of years, women have been subjugated, repressed, condescended, beaten, and burned alive merely for existing.

But there is a new awakening at home and abroad that continues to intensify not only through the #metoo movement, but through other channels.  This energy demands a new dawn.  It is a  question of power versus force.  Power is what we own, and force is what is taken from us.  The unrighteous will of others can only be imposed for so long, before the energy shifts.  History has shown us examples of civil disobedience in action, time and time again. And not merely with Gahndi and King.

Power comes from clarity.  It’s an understanding of our worth, our gifts, and the value that our unique thumbprint adds to the world.  It comes from a deep knowing that we are part of a larger intricate plan.  Some days we may feel that we don’t understand our role in the plan, but we know that we matter.  We know that we have worth because of the mere fact that we were born.

Force comes from a taking, sometimes righteous, and many times not.  It’s imposing a will upon others that cannot be sustained long term.  Depending on the arc of the Universe, the “short term” may feel long.

Many professional shifts are based on the power of The Feminine.  The Feminine is not our biological sex, nor our gender identity and expression, but rather an energy that we all posses.  The Feminine is expressed through stillness, softness, and the ability to powerfully hold space for others.  This may be expressed through listening, guiding, witnessing, reflecting, and redirecting.  And really, that’s what leadership is.  Leadership is not about shining, but allowing others to shine.  Even if we are talented, our talents are somewhat wasted if we do not have the ability to teach someone else to do the same.  To recognize the gifts in another that need to be nurtured in order to thrive.

Take Action

How do you allow others to shine?  Remember, leadership is not a rank; it’s a way we show up.
